Although a loft conversion is a great way to gain extra space, particularly if you are lacking outside space to extend on, but it does require a lot of thought behind it.

Although the actual design planning is fairly straight forward, there is a lot that you need to consider such as your roof structure – if your house was built before the 60’s the likelihood is that it will have quite a solid structure and will be more suitable for loft conversions.

Houses built after the 60’s will use cheaper timber timbers which allow the house to be built in a shorter time frame, but also means that a loft conversion might require you to have more structural beams fitted; your head heights – your roof needs to be greater than 2.2m in order for a loft conversion to take place; the pitch height and finally the positioning of the staircase – a staircase can take up a lot of room in your home, and you need to think carefully about where you would like this to be located, and whether there will be enough room.

Is A Loft Conversion Suitable For My Home?

Although planning permission is not normally required for loft conversions, it is important to check, particularly if you are planning on altering the roof space or extend it; however, we will be more than happy to help you with this process as we appreciate that it can sometimes seem a little daunting and stressful.
